| This is the ultimate in a weekend retreat. The home is elevated on the hillside to make the most of the scenic views of distant mountain ranges, and of the Cacapon River down below. The Crossing at Great Cacapon is a gated, riverfront, recreational community in the mountains of Hampshire County, WV. This community is easily accessed in 45 minutes from Winchester, Va., and is just over 2 hours from the DC Beltway. This beautiful log home is situated on 3.29 acres. The land is mostly cleared, and the home backs to woods, offering a nice buffer of privacy. The upper deck wraps on 3 sides, leading to a very nice screened porch. This porch side takes advantage of the shade, and long range mountain views to enjoy from your rocking chair. Straight below, from the front of the home, the Cacapon River can be seen in the distance. There is a common area for the development within sight and walking distance, where you can enjoy a picnic at riverside, or access into the river for recreational purposes. The community offers 3 points of access to the river, along with a nice picnic pavilion and playground area. One of the views at the top right is of the river, while crossing the concrete community bridge. This beautiful log chalet was custom built in 2002, but shows like brand new. Total square footage on the main level is 1120 sq.ft. finished, with potential for another 1120 sq.ft. in the lower level. Throughout are exposed pine, vaulted ceilings, and pine flooring is in all the main level rooms except for bedrooms and baths. The interior walls are exposed log, with drywall partitions between the rooms. The great-room is fabulous, with glass allowing natural light to flow in, along with a stone backdrop extending two stories, with a cozy woodstove, centered. The dining area also features glass sliders that access the front deck, also allowing plenty of natural light. The kitchen is fully equipped, and matches the home perfectly with natural oak cabinets. The master-suite has a nice bath attached, and a full, hall bath allows guests their own facilities. This hall bath has a corner shower. The guest bedroom is very nicely sized. A full, unfinished basement allows for future expansion. There is plumbing installed to add a full bath, and there are laundry facilities on sight (the washer & dryer conveys). This lower level offers level walk-out, to the front. |
